Question: Dr. Jones,
I was interested in reading your data on
SAD. Could you share the references?
I was curious for example that only 5% get treatment and that it is the most common
anxiety disorder.
Thanks in advance.
Carolyn
Answer:
The National Institute of Health states that 6.8% of the population has SAD
which is more than any of the major anxiety disorders, which includes Panic
Disorder, Generalized anxiety disorder, OCD and PTSD. However, if you count
specific phobias, such as being afraid of dogs, blood, heights, etc. more
people will fall into that category.

Another good source is the Replication Comorbidity Study which was headed by
Ronald Kessler.

Dr. Jones
